Four days to be fully here
I wanted forty to feel like more than a birthday and bring together some of the people who have made my life feel abundant.
Why Tulum? Because I wanted to celebrate in a place offering both beauty and freedom. Tulum gives us the sea, wonderful food, art, history, and adventure.
There will be beautiful meals, time on the water, music, long conversations, a little adventure, and a few excellent reasons to dress magnificently.
Most of all, I want us to slow down and enjoy time together without feeling the need to fill every minute and hour.
What Awaits
Good things, in good company.
01
Gather
I've built much of my life around bringing people together. Some of my favorite moments happen around tables filled with food, in kitchens where everyone somehow ends up, or beside a fire long in the evening. I want us to linger, enjoying each other’s unhurried company.
02
Water
From the pool to the beach to the open Caribbean, we'll sail, swim, float, and surrender to the joy and serenity that water brings.
03
Explore
Some adventures we'll plan and others we'll stumble upon, following our curiosity or just seeing where the road takes us. Freedom, I've learned, isn't only about having wonderful places to go, but also having nowhere to be.
There will also be room to sleep late, sit by the pool with a book and a drink, disappear for an afternoon massage, or simply enjoy the rare pleasure of having nowhere to be.
Some moments will bring all of us together, while others will be entirely yours.
The luxury of doing nothing
Before our first toast…
Some of the most important stories of my life began before I was born. Before I had a name, there were women whose prayers, sacrifices, and acts of extraordinary courage were already shaping the life I would one day call mine.
I come to forty carrying names that were never mine alone, stories that crossed oceans to reach me, and a mother tongue I am still learning how to inherit.
I think often of the women who dared and continue to build and imagine futures they might never see, who endured so that generations beyond their own could live differently.
There is more to celebrate than the forty years I've been given. There are all the lives, loves, and histories that make mine possible.
